How to get a +62 number as a tourist

Why bother with a local number at all?

• Gojek & Grab — Bali’s ride-hailing and food-delivery apps verify accounts with a local SMS code. Foreign numbers routinely fail or time out; full guide here.
• Local OTPs everywhere — restaurant loyalty apps, e-wallet top-ups, spa bookings, airline check-in counters: they all assume a +62 number.
• Calls that connect — drivers and villa staff call you before pickups. A foreign number costs them money to call, so often they simply won’t.

The three legitimate routes

1. Airport SIM counter (physical SIM). Telkomsel, XL and Indosat sell at Denpasar arrivals; staff register the SIM to your passport on the spot. Works fine — after the queue, at counter prices, and it takes your physical SIM slot. What to expect →
2. A phone shop in town. Cheaper than the airport, but registration quality varies — unregistered or bulk-registered SIMs get cut off mid-trip, and you’ll need to find the shop again if anything breaks. Fine if you speak some Indonesian and have time.
3. A tourist eSIM with registration support (what we do). Order online and complete your passport verification. After approval, your QR can be delivered from 3 days before arrival, or prepared during service hours if you are already here. Install it, confirm the installed line, and our team completes carrier registration. Service hours are daily, 09:00–01:00 Bali time (UTC+8).

What the registration involves (and why it’s not scary)

Registration (often called KYC) links the number to your passport, as Indonesian telecom law requires. With us it’s a 5-minute online step: a quick scan of your passport’s photo page and your phone’s IMEI (we show you where to find it). Documents are stored privately, used only for activation, and deleted after the legal retention window.
