Installation Guide
How to Install eSIM on iPhone and Android
Your Nusio Bali eSIM arrives as a QR code by email. Follow these steps to install it on your iPhone or Android phone — the whole process takes under five minutes.
Before you start
- Make sure your phone is eSIM-compatible.
- Have the QR code email from Nusio open on another device or printed — you cannot scan a QR from the same phone's screen.
- Your phone must be connected to Wi-Fi or your home data to download the eSIM profile.
- Each QR code can only be scanned once. Do not share it with others.
How to install eSIM on iPhone
- 1
Open iPhone Settings
Unlock your iPhone and open the Settings app (the grey icon with gears).
- 2
Go to Cellular
Tap "Cellular" or "Mobile Data" depending on your iOS version.
- 3
Tap Add eSIM
Scroll down and tap "Add eSIM" (or "Add Data Plan" on older iOS versions).
- 4
Use QR Code
Select "Use QR Code" when prompted. Your camera will open. Point it at the QR code in your Nusio email.
- 5
Confirm and label the plan
Tap "Continue" after scanning. You can label the eSIM "Bali Nusio" so it's easy to identify.
- 6
Set as primary or secondary
Choose whether this eSIM handles data (select it as your default data line for the trip). Your home SIM stays active for calls.
- 7
You're connected
The eSIM activates and connects to the Indonesian network automatically. Check the status bar for signal.
Note: On iPhone 14 and later in the USA, the physical SIM tray has been removed. These models are eSIM-only and work the same way.
How to install eSIM on Android
The exact menu names vary by manufacturer. The steps below cover Samsung (One UI) and Google Pixel (stock Android). Other Android brands follow the same pattern.

- 2
Navigate to SIM settings
Go to "Connections" → "SIM card manager" (Samsung) or "Network & internet" → "SIMs" (Google Pixel / stock Android).
- 3
Add eSIM
Tap "Add eSIM" or "Download a SIM". Your camera will open.
- 4
Scan the QR code
Point the camera at the QR code in your Nusio email. The plan details will appear on screen.
- 5
Confirm the download
Tap "Download" or "Confirm" to activate the eSIM profile on your device.
- 6
Set as active SIM for data
Go back to SIM settings and set the Nusio eSIM as the default for mobile data.
- 7
You're connected
Your phone connects to Indonesia's 4G LTE network. Check the status bar for the signal indicator.
Troubleshooting
- QR code scan fails
- Hold the phone steadily about 20–30 cm from the printed or screen-displayed QR code. If scanning still fails, most carriers allow you to enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code manually — these are included in your Nusio email.
- No signal after installation
- Toggle Airplane Mode off then on, or restart your phone. The network registration can take up to 2 minutes on first connection.
- "Add eSIM" option is not visible
- Your phone may not support eSIM, or it may be carrier-locked. Check our compatibility guide to confirm. Contact your home carrier if you suspect a lock.
- eSIM shows but no data
- Ensure the Nusio eSIM is selected as the default data SIM in Settings. Also check that mobile data is turned on for that SIM.
