Using Gojek and Grab in Bali with an eSIM

Why you need a local +62 number

Gojek and Grab both use SMS one-time passwords (OTPs) to verify new accounts. The OTP is sent to your phone number. If you try to register with your home country number (UK, US, Australia, etc.), the verification SMS either doesn't arrive or is blocked.

SMS OTPs won't work

Both Gojek and Grab send verification codes by SMS to an Indonesian number. If your number is a UK +44, US +1, or any other non-Indonesian number, the OTP delivery often fails or is blocked.
